Cherise Fisher started her career in publishing as the assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of Dell Publishing a month after graduating from Yale. At Simon & Schuster, where she spent nine years, Fisher built a strong list of fiction and non-fiction titles covering a broad spectrum of topics (relationships, business and career development, sexuality, health and fitness, pop reference and pop culture, Christianity and spirituality, illustrated books and commercial African American fiction). She continues to show interest in books that help people make the most of their lives.

Among the many authors she has worked with are Michael Baisden, Pat Croce, Nelson George, Paule Marshall, Tony Parsons, George Lopez, and Victoria Christopher Murray.

Fisher is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Plume. As such, she is responsible for shaping Plume's publishing program. Plume, a trade paperback division of Penguin USA, is the publisher of many bestselling authors including John Perkins, Jane Green, Al Franken, Jenny McCarthy, Diane Johnson, Michael Corbett, Dorothy Allison, Dave Pelzer, Julia Alvarez, Tracy Chevalier, Leonard Maltin, Ayn Rand, August Wilson, and Karen Joy Fowler, among others.

Cherise is the daughter of Gabriel Davis and Diana White Davis. Although born in New York, she spent many summers in Montserrat with her grandmother, Ada White, and considers herself a proud Montserratian.
